This event brings together leading experts to explore the intricate connections the microbiome has to health, agriculture, and the environment. It will be taking place on Friday, September 20th, 10 am – 6 pm at The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center. Our confirmed speakers represent a diverse array of prestigious institutions and will share their latest research, knowledge, and insights.

Event Day Information

On Friday, September 20, 2024—we will gather at the Beckman Center for a wonderful day of microbiome science. This will be our 10th SoCal Microbiome Symposium since we started in 2013!

We can’t wait to see all of you and reflect on the last 10 years of microbiome science.

Registration is now closed
Location: The Beckman Center, 100 Academy, Irvine, CA 92617 (Google Map link) Note: This year, we’re in a new location! The symposium is NOT at CalIT2 on UCI’s campus, but at the Beckman Center to mark our 10th anniversary. The symposium is in-person only.
Parking: Free parking is available.
Registration & Coffee: Starts at 9:00 AM PST on Friday 9/20/24
Posters: Set-up will take place during lunchtime, and the poster session will be during the afternoon reception.
Agenda: We have an incredible line-up planned - from wastewater sequencing to phage evolution to probiotics designed to alleviate hangovers, it will be a great day (see agenda below and attached)!

Students, post-docs, faculty and community members from SoCal and beyond have signed up in record numbers (>200!)
